How Clean Are Bexley's Restaurants? We Checked the Data.
Behind the Kitchen Door — a data-driven series from InspectFL
If you live in Bexley, you already know the community is growing fast — trails, pools, events, and a town center that’s starting to feel like a real neighborhood hub. But when you sit down at one of the restaurants along Focus Loop, how confident should you be in what’s happening behind the kitchen door?
We pulled every state inspection record for Bexley’s restaurants and the surrounding 34638 zip code — 27 restaurants total — to find out.
Bexley’s Report Card
Nearly half earned an A grade, and almost all the rest are B’s. That’s a strong showing. But there’s one F and a couple of C’s worth knowing about — more on those below.
The Town Center: Bexley’s Cleanest Stretch
The restaurants along Focus Loop — the walkable heart of Bexley — are performing the best in the entire zip code:
- 🟢 Urban Crunch — A (100) — Perfect score, zero violations
- 🟢 Bexley Club — A (98.8) — Only ding was a missing certified food manager
- 🟢 Bella Brava Bexley — A (98.5) — One critical for hair restraints, otherwise clean
- 🟢 Banh Mi Boba — A (95.8) — Most recent inspection was clean, but earlier visits had cold holding and food source issues
Worth noting: Taco Bus is also on Focus Loop but didn’t make the clean list — they picked up 4 critical violations in December including improper cold holding and toxic substance storage, landing them at a B (93).
If you’re grabbing dinner in the town center, the A-rated spots above are your safest bets.
The One F: Capital Tacos (LOL Blvd)
The only F-graded restaurant near Bexley is Capital Tacos on Land O’ Lakes Boulevard, scoring 69.3 out of 100 — just 0.7 points from a C.
Their January 2026 inspection turned up 7 critical violations in a single visit:
- 🔴 Improper cold holding temperatures
- 🔴 Food not from approved source
- 🔴 Food contact surfaces not properly sanitized
- 🔴 No proper handwashing by employees
- 🔴 No certified food manager present
- 🔴 No plan review submitted
- 🔴 No hair restraints
A March 2026 callback showed they’d fixed the food safety issues, but still had 3 outstanding critical violations (no food manager, no plan review, no hair restraints). Those are more operational/paperwork than food safety — but they add up in the score.
Capital Tacos is a popular local chain, and this is just one location. But the data is the data.
The C-Graded Watch List
Two restaurants sit in C territory — not failing, but flagged:
- 🟠 Sweet Krunch Fried Chicken — C (81.5) — An admin complaint was recommended after inspectors found toxic substances improperly stored, improper cooking temps, and no employee handwashing
- 🟠 San Jose Mex Rest — C (77) — 6 critical violations including improper temperatures
Sweet Krunch’s September 2025 inspection was rough — 7 critical violations in one visit. An administrative complaint was recommended, which is one step below enforcement action.
Nearby on LOL Boulevard
Beyond Bexley’s town center, most of the area’s dining lines Land O’ Lakes Boulevard. Here’s how the corridor stacks up:
| Restaurant | Grade | Score |
|---|---|---|
| Dunkin Donuts | A | 98 |
| Marco’s Pizza | A | 98.5 |
| McDonald’s | A | 97.5 |
| Wendy’s | A | 95.8 |
| China Star | B | 94.5 |
| Taco Bell | B | 94 |
| The Pizza Pie | B | 93 |
| Little Greek | B | 92 |
| Culver’s | B | 90 |
| Whit’s Frozen Custard | B | 89 |
| New Tung Tung 2 | B | 89 |
| San Jose Mex Rest | C | 77 |
| Capital Tacos | F | 69.3 |
The boulevard is mostly B’s with a handful of A’s at the top. Solid, if not spectacular.
The Bottom Line
Bexley’s town center is one of the cleanest dining stretches in Pasco County. Every restaurant on Focus Loop earned an A or high B — if you’re eating walkable from the community, you’re in great shape.
The surrounding area on LOL Boulevard is a mixed bag — mostly decent B’s, but a couple of spots to watch. We’ll keep tracking as new inspections come in.
